Masterpeace Zimbabwe is promoting peace and community development through; peace workshops and destruction of the Lantana camara replacing them with other alternatives. It was discovered through research that the lantana camara shrubs are reducing grazing land, neutralizing soil fertility and killing livestock.
The lantana camara will be replaced with different species like such as Moringa, Aloe Vera, and other fruit trees that are drought resistant as they are better alternatives with the following benefits:
- Livestock feeding
- Can be used as a vegetable
- Cures kwashiorkor
- Contains vitamins, essential minerals like iron
- Provide fruits
- Easy to plant
- Moringa is also used to make jam and drinks
- Used to cure livestock
- Supportive treatment to diabetes
- Source of food for livestock
- Cures bee stings
The YDZ team departed for Utopia with a team of with a team of 10 staff members and 3 facilitators to spearhead sexual reproductive health and rights training. 22 participants graced the SRHR workshop.
Participants suggested the need to engage chiefs and DAs in all SRHR programmes so as to reach out to the most marginalised youths especially of the Apostolic Sect. Another suggestion was for continuous engagement of blind people when it comes to SRHR since most of them are negligent and ignorant to such issues.
POINT TO NOTE
National Youth Paralympic Games to be hosted in Gweru from 4 August to 10 August 2019. Preparation meetings are to be done starting May.
There is need by the responsible local authorities to create a functional association for the blind where collective intervention is made and their burning concerns are addressed.
To employ physically challenged people in institutions which provide SRHR services to make it easier for the disabled to open up to other disabled people.
There is need to include a number of blind people.
